Hi, everyone! :) I've got the book, and have started it as well. So how should we go about discussing? Should we all try to finish it by say... mid-July and then start posting on what we found enlightening, interesting, provocative, and stimulating?... Or, shall we post as we are reading? Or, simply have no rules and post away in an impressionistic way? :)

but since Madison won't give me a library card until I get a piece of mail to verify my new address I will have to wait to start it.  I might go out and purchase it, but without a job funds are a little tight.  Hope to read everyone else's posts though and see what I can look forward to!

Hi, everyone!  Looks like a good book!  Ashley, the bartending idea sounds fun!  Getting the license would be a plus.  It's a busy job, you would always be on your feet and you have to move quickly, but on the plus side, if you get really good and can do fancy stuff with the shaker, you could get good tips.  Also, if you get into the catering business, you could make really good tips!  It's up to you.

Hey all, how's it going? This site totally confuses me and considering how Colleen's blog never worked for me I'm curious to see how I do on this one. So i hope everyone's summers are fun so far and I want to vote for Sam's book because it sounds awesome so tally that for me. Also what do you guys think of bartending? And by guys I mean ladies, I'm totally bored and it only takes 2 weeks to get your license. So I don't know that could be a fun job right???

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post in the community...but I just wanted to make sure that we have invited Gail to join. I'm not sure how to invite people, probably because this is really confusing for me ;) Anyways, just wanted to make sure. I can't wait to get started!  ~Megan

current mood: hopeful

Since we're already a week into summer vacation and Michelle has alerted us to a recommendation from Gail, let's get this show on the road!: )

Instead of themes, we'll just take recommendations over the period of a week. Monday, May 26th 10:00pm EST-Monday, June 2nd 10:00pm EST (I know we have people who like deadlines and structure)

Vote by commenting once you have made your decision. You may change your decision up until the deadline.: )

1.) Unaccostomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri (recommendation by Gail/Michelle)
published April 1, 2008
352 pages

2.) The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera (recommendation by Sam)

The tally as of 9:00pm EST 6/2/08:

This post will be edited to add new book recommendations.
